What is ActionCut?
ActionCut is a browser extension that lets you capture any value from any webpage — a stock price, a bill amount, a sales total — and sync it to your Apple Watch via iCloud.
How it works
- Select — Open a webpage and double-click any number you want to track. ActionCut captures the element.
- Configure — Give your action a name, set a refresh interval, and choose where it runs.
- Sync — ActionCut refreshes the page on your schedule and pushes metrics to your Apple Watch via iCloud.
What can you track?
Anything that appears as a number on a webpage:
- Stock prices
- Bank or account balances
- Total sales or revenue
- Monthly bills
- Portfolio values
- Any percentage or currency value
Supported browsers
- Google Chrome
- Firefox (Coming Soon)
- Safari (Coming Soon)
Privacy
ActionCut is designed to keep your personal data private.
Your metric values — the actual numbers captured from webpages — are stored only in your personal iCloud container and never leave your account.
Action configurations (the xpath selectors, refresh intervals, and other settings that define how a value is captured) are stored in ActionCut servers. Private actions are only accessible to you. Public actions are stored in iCloud’s public database and are visible to other Actionary users.
ActionCut does not collect or store the values it captures on any external server.
Enabling Actions
Actions are pre-configured metrics available for specific websites. When you visit a supported page, ActionCut shows available actions you enable with one click.
How to enable an action
- Navigate to a webpage that has available actions (e.g. a supported finance or e-commerce site).
- Open the ActionCut extension.
- You’ll see a list of available actions for the current page.
- Enable to start syncing it to your Apple Watch.
Viewing action details
Click an action to view its details:
- Title — The name of the metric
- Description — What the action does
- Category — Currency, Number, or Percentage
- Refresh Interval — How often the action updates
- Runs on — Exact page, URL pattern, or any page on the domain
Managing your actions
- Enabled actions sync automatically to your Apple Watch via iCloud.
- You can view all your active actions from the ActionCut extension when on a relevant page.
- To stop syncing an action, open ActionCut extension on the webpage and turn off the switch.
No actions available?
If the popup shows “No actions are available for this website,” it means no actions have been created for the website yet. You can create your own actions on your favorite websites — see Creating an Action.
Creating an Action
An action lets you capture values from a webpage and specify how often it updates. Here’s how to create one.
Prerequisites
- ActionCut browser extension installed
- Sign in with your Apple ID that you use on your Apple Watch
Steps
1. Navigate to the page
Open the webpage that contains the value you want to track. For example, a stock page, your bank dashboard, or a sales report.
2. Open ActionCut
Click the ActionCut icon in your browser toolbar to open the extension.
3. Tap the + button
Click the + button in the top right of the extension. ActionCut shows a form to select metric, where it should run and access for this action.
4. Choose metric and scope
Metric — What type of value is this?
- Currency (e.g. $1,234)
- Number (e.g. 42)
- Percentage (e.g. 3.5%)
Where should this action run?
- Exact page — Only on this specific URL
- Pattern — On URLs matching a wildcard, e.g.
example.com/profile/* - Any page — On every page of this domain
5. Set access
- Private — Saved only to your iCloud (for private information ex: account balances, sales, bills etc.)
- Public — Visible to other ActionCut users on the same page (ex: stock prices, followers etc.)
6. Click the Start button
After selecting the values in the form click Start. ActionCut now enters into selection mode.
7. Double-click the value
Double-click the number on the page you want to track. ActionCut will highlight and capture it, then reopens the extension showing the selected value.
8. (Optional) Select a Name element
If you want to label this metric with a context — like a profile name, account name, or page title — check “Select a Name element” and double-click the relevant text on the page. Examples: AAPL (stock name), John Appleseed (profile name), Crazy Page (page title), ABC Restaurant (account name) etc.
9. Continue to the form
Tap Continue. Fill in the following:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Title | A short name for this action, e.g. “Sales Today” |
| Description | Enter a short description to convey what this action represents. |
| Refresh | How often ActionCut refreshes the page (1–60 minutes) |
10. Submit
Tap Submit. Your action will be submitted for verification and will be available for all ActionCut users after verification. Once verified, comeback to enable it.
Tips
- Use Pattern scope when the value appears across multiple similar URLs (e.g. different product pages).
- Use the Name element to differentiate between multiple actions on the same site (e.g. different account names).
- Set a longer refresh interval for values that don’t change often to save battery.
Troubleshooting
Data isn’t updating on my Apple Watch
ActionCut refreshes the webpage in the background to capture the latest value. If your data isn’t updating:
- Check the refresh interval — Click the action name in the extension to view details. If the interval is set to 60 minutes for example, data will only update only once an hour.
- Make sure the browser is running — ActionCut needs the browser to be open and running in the background to refresh pages.
- Keep your computer active — Make sure your Mac or PC is not in deep sleep. For better results, keep the browser as the active window before the device sleeps.
- Check Apple ID on Apple Watch — Check if you are logged in on your Apple Watch by going to the Settings app.
The value shows “Updating soon”
This label appears when:
- An action was just modified and hasn’t updated yet.
- The page hasn’t been refreshed since the action was modified.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is ActionCut?
ActionCut is a browser extension that captures numeric values from webpages and syncs them to your Apple Watch via iCloud.
What kind of values can I track?
Any number that appears on a webpage — stock prices, account balances, sales totals, bill amounts, percentages, and more. ActionCut supports numbers, currency and percentages.
What categories are supported?
- Currency — e.g. $1,234.56
- Number — e.g. 42,000
- Percentage — e.g. 3.5%
Is my data private?
Your metric values are stored only in your personal iCloud and are never sent to any external server. Action configurations are stored in ActionCut servers. Private actions are only accessible to you; public actions are visible to other Actionary users.
Why do I need to sign in with Apple ID?
ActionCut uses iCloud to sync data to your Apple Watch privately and securely.
What is a “Name element”?
A Name element is an optional label — like a profile name, account name, or page title — that helps identify which resource a metric belongs to. It’s useful when tracking the same type of value across multiple accounts or pages on a website (e.g. tracking sales for different store locations).
What’s the difference between Exact page, Pattern, and Any page?
| Option | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Exact page | Only runs on the specific URL you were on when creating the action |
| Pattern | Runs on any URL matching a wildcard pattern, e.g. example.com/orders/* |
| Any page | Runs on every page of that domain |
How often does ActionCut refresh the data?
ActionCut refreshes anywhere from 1 to 60 minutes if the action is enabled and depending on the refresh interval of the action.
Does the browser need to be open for data to update?
Yes. ActionCut runs inside the browser, so the browser needs to be running (it can be in the background) for page refreshes to happen. The browser needs to be active when your Mac or PC goes to sleep.
What does “Updating soon” mean?
It means the action was recently created or modified and is waiting for its first refresh cycle. Once the page refreshes at the set interval, the value will appear.
What is the Actionary app?
Actionary is a simple Apple Watch app that displays your health metrics. It shows your synced metrics from ActionCut right on your wrist.
Which browsers are supported?
Google Chrome.
